Allow me to introduce myself...

Confession… this is sort of a project for a marketing class, but the fact is that I do bleed purple and my passions don’t just end with the Ravens. I am an avid NFL fan! My TV is usually turned to the NFL Network and at times ESPN. One of the set stations on my radio is 105.7 “The Fan” and I ordered satellite radio just to get more NFL info…a little odd for a female? Probably, but we’ve all got a passion, and mine happens to be for a male dominated industry.

I wasn’t always a huge NFL fan, far from it actually. Basketball was my sport. I played basketball through most of my childhood, and I only looked up to basketball stars. My interest in football began back in 97 when the Packers won the Superbowl and Antonio Freeman, Baltimore Polytechnic High school alum, came to my school to celebrate and show off his ring.  While everyone crowded him to see his Superbowl bling, all I thought was, “Who in the world is Antonio Freeman?” As passionate as I am about football now, I’m embarrassed to admit that I had no clue that Antonio Freeman was the same guy who would become famous for the infamous and improbable Monday Night Football catch in 2000.

Needless to say, I watched my first Superbowl in 98, and rooted for the Packers. I had no idea who Brett Favre was (amazing, right?), but I did know to look for Antonio Freeman. At this point I was just mildly interested in Antonio Freeman and more interested in Jordan playing in the 98 NBA finals. My interest grew when the city started to buzz about the possibility of playoffs during the 2000 season. The Ravens went on to win the Superbowl in 2000 and I was hooked. Soon I was watching ESPN, joined a football pool (still trying to understand how my cousin, who also ran the pool, kept winning every year), and today I’m writing a blog about my purple passion…for a marketing project, that is.
